No skunk on Monks
I hit Monksville today for a few hours. With a late afternoon start I figured I'd just be wetting my line. I never do well here, but was surprised to bag a solid 20" pickerel that took a while to bring in because he dove deep into the weeds, and two smallies about a pound. The last one, I saw two bass fighting to get at my Keitech swimbait. I caught the winner (or shall I say the loser?).
As a side note, I've never seen Monksville so crowded. When I drove over the bridge on my way to the launch I saw the water filled with kayakers, and a few sail boats. I usually hit the south ramp because it's less crowded, but the lot was packed. I actually had to wait for someone to pull out so I could get a parking spot suitable for the trailer. And WTF is with the people who seem to think a boat ramp is some sort of beach? People were set up with chairs and coolers on the ramp as if it was a day at Seaside Heights. And half a dozen people or so fishing, swimming or wading right on or in front of the ramp.
