[Reel Class]

Had Jon Frankel on for his second charter in 2 weeks. Was a little concerned about the forecast but once we got outside it was pretty nice - basically 2-3' even with the breeze from the ENE.

Set up on a wreck about 10 miles off - had instantaneous life and a good bite of shorts mixed with a few keepers. Then, a dive boat showed up, wedged himself on the piece (the wreck is LARGE), sent down his guys and our bite was over. First time I've ever seen such a classless and DANGEROUS act on the ocean when there are other wrecks - GOOD WRECKS - in a 2 mile radius around this one. Ridiculous.

We then Made a few drops on those aforementioned pieces when our fish went into hiding, and got a few. Then set up on some rocks up the line a bit more and had a tough time staying still on the hook with the wind and the wacky current - so we went up on the drift and picked pretty well. Bounced around, this area, and just inshore, the rest of the day (only dropping the hook one more time) and had generally good action... Some pieces had loads of life, others were barren.

It seemed like we caught the keepers better on the drift today -- loads of double headers, several double header keepers, and lots of nice quality fish to 3.5#. The guys worked very hard for the crew limit, and we finished just 5 fish shy of a full boat limit (85 in the box) - also had 1 nice 24" keeper cod by Kurtis, 2 ling, and a couple of short fluke caught by Steve O. Lucanus jigs worked well as well as the regular fresh clams...

Real nice day with a great crew, and a box full of fish!!
