6/6 - Mushin Coney Island Grand Slam
Mushin had Mike F's charter out for stripers on 6/6 after a week of wind kept us at the dock. Unfortunately for the fleet, striper fishing was tough. Veteran Capt. Jay Andrews pulled out all the stops with the intention of putting them on fish. They snagged bunker closer to our inlet, and chose to run to the North as some boats had them on bait the evening before. That fishing never materialized on Saturday. They trolled many of the usual areas to the North, then moved up to troll between the channels, still with no fish in the box. Capt. Jay went with our usual Mushin Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)..."run as far as you need to in order to find fish!" Working off some intell, he ran to the shadows of the New York bridges and off Coney Island! They caught the end of the tide and put a nice bass and added some blues before that bite fizzled. The highlight was the Coney Island Grand Slam...striped bass, bluefish, and used condom, all on the troll.
