Re: Black sea bass season to start 4 days earlier
Here is NJ options nothing mentions an early start. If anything we're getting screwed as usual.
New Jersey's recreational anglers have been presented with three options to achieve the 33 percent reduction in black sea bass harvest mandated by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission for the 2015 season.
For a stock that has been declared healthy and rebuilt for years, these annual cuts are bewildering. But here we are again and these are the choices:
Option 1
The season will be from May 27 to June 30 with a 15 fish limit; July 1 to July 31, with two fish limit; Oct. 22 to Oct. 31, with 15 fish limit; and Nov. 1 to Dec. 31 with a 15 fish limit. The size limit for the fish will be 121/2 inches and the total fishing days will be 137.
Option 2
The season will be from June 10 to June 30 with a 15 fish limit; July 1 to Aug. 31 with a three fish limit; Oct. 23 to Oct. 31 with a 15 fish limit; and , Nov. 1 to Dec. 31 with a 15 fish limit. The size limit for the fish will be 121/2 inches and the total fishing days will be 153.
Option 3
The season will be from May 25 to June 30 with a 15 fish limit; July 1 to July 31 with a three fish limit; Sept. 1 to Sept. 6 with a three fish limit; Oct. 22 to Oct. 31, with a three fish limit; and Nov. 1 to Dec. 31 with a 15 fish limit. The size limit for the fish will be 13 inches and the total fishing days will be 175.
