I'm gonna go outta the box and give you something that most other advice will not get into: small eel bits, like leftover striper bait, stays on the hook well, don't need too much and they love the natural forage... Other than that, clams,squid,swimming mullet,diamond jigs,sandeels,spearing,killies,small mullet, peanut bunker,mussels , strip baits, and a lot of other bait, hi-lo rig or tip a spro like jig, many many ways to catch em, they will be all over the place till around October 17, then they get really hard to find ...
