Re: Otsego Lake?
Hey skunk I fished it twice last year but I was trolling for lake trout. The first time we had over 50 lake trout up to 8 pounds it was a great day and the second time out we couldnt get a bite for about 6 hours str8. We switched over to some bass fishing and did pretty good with the smallies and tons of yellow perch. A good portion of the lake has steep drop offs with sharp weedlines which held a lot of fish. I know lardomighty has some videos of that place up on youtube he may be able to help you out some. We tried trolling cranks for the walleyes but the rocks are so sharp there that we kept getting cut off. The water is pretty clear there so it might be a better night bite kinda spot. The guy at the dock said they do pretty well there with the walleye. Its a giant lake compared to any nj lakes and very deep. I would def. bring some jigging gear like binskys and try the big points for lakers if you can get into one they are not like the nj lakers they tend to give you a nice tussle and run much bigger on average. It is a very beautiful and non commercialized place, you will enjoy your time there for sure.
