.mov and .mp4 both work on youtube. these types of files are called containers. the problem is that inside of the .mov or .mp4 file, the video stream may be compressed using format (codec) that youtube doesn't understand. but just being in .mov vs .mp4 is not the problem. check out this link for more information on codecs vs containers:

try exporting your video from gopro studio as HD 1080p instead (which uses h.264 codec).

you should always avoid exporting the video from goprostudio and then recompressing it again after, because that significantly lowers quality
