been fishing Canada for over 40 years,it all depends on how soon after ice out you go and water temp..don't know where you are heading so its guesswork,my best ice out baits for shallow warm flats were the old red&white daredevil or a big ass spinnerbait near weeds(green ones)if you find slime forget it,,large live or dead bait for pike,,,rip rapalas over weed beds for jack walleyes or troll in low light over mud flats trying anything you got
