Default Re: blackfishing from shore?

I've done this a few times every year. Catch a few dozen green crabs and head to one of the inlets - Shark River, Manasquan or Barnegat. Fish are always there.

Honestly, I suck at it. The regulars that are always there outfish me 5 to 1.

There are typically a few pockets or rocks in the jetty that are better than other spots. Helps to know where they are.

I have felt waders. Sometimes I won't go out as far as I want to because it's not safe, especially on IBSP. Felt is good but Korkers are better.

Rig is simple. I’d need to check but I think I’ve been using a 1oz weight with a #2/0 hook a few inches above it. And lose a lot of rigs, especially during a strong tide.

I would guess that there are fish anywhere where you can find structure.
