Well here's my 5 cents

to knowingly kill something that you are not going use as food or bait kind of tells me what kind of a person you are. That being said I think it may be smart to tell a mate or captain that you are fishing for fun. This way they have the opportunity to react in a way that they the captain and crew would like to. I do understand when blue fishing that getting that fish out of the water quickly is esciemtial do to its ability to destroy plenty of tackle all over the boat. So it's a double edge sword for the captain and crew. Save the fish for another day which I'm sure they would prefer to do and piss off 10 guys that got tangled up and now can't fish until the re tie what they just tied on after the last mess. Or gaff the fish so it does tangle 10 other anglers and piss off 10 other anglers because the killed the fish for no reason. Tough call here guys. I don't want to kill that fish and I don't want to get tangled up in that mess because I paid to fish and now I'm not Fishing.

PS netting a blue fish? You crazy you would go through 10 nets a trip.
