Default Re: Jigging for Seabass

I caught my full limit of Seabass on an offshore trip last year on the Voyager. I was using a flat sided Shimano butterfly jig and just short snappy jerks on the bottom. I found that the fish need to a little thicker on the offshore trips for the jig to produce and the larger fish were only hitting the jigs. I'm talking those fat Seabass up to 4 pounds and nothing under 2lbs on the jig period!

Inshore I use an ava 27 or smaller with a trevel hook and long sweeps work best. The fish definitely need to be in the mood for the jig.
