Default Re: Jigging for Seabass

Was on the cell phone reading while waiting before, but wanted to say that many guys are using jigs for sea bass now! Anything from a simple Ava Jig ( no tail ) to the fancy stuff like I listed above with the Jetty Ghost Sandeels, these fish will inhale something like this.

Spearing & Sandeels also work as bait too! Seems the larger fish will take the larger baits, such as spearing even smelts! Clam is great, or squid, but you see the mix of small fish with these baits. If you want to target quality fish, go with the jigs and bigger baits!

One last thing we have noticed, is that pink & blue are the two top colors for jigs. Pink starts to change color, depending on your depth. Blue is one of the last colors that are lost in the water. Spent 2 seasons testing this theory and its dead on. Blue jigs seem to crush sea bass in depths of 75-125'/

Just a little info on the topic. OMT made up some sea bass jigs for us recently, and the guys love them! Blue with UV Glow.
