Default Sunday 8/4 Flukin

Met up today with Roy, Paulie. Jimmy and Phil for an early departure for some bucktailin flukin, Rounded the Hook and fished Sandy Hook Channel before the crowds got out. 1 keeper but rather slow. Took a ride down the beach for some better action.

Had to put the sock out as the drift was a little quick for the 6 oz. jigs. It helped out and we put a couple more keepers in the box. Nothing to really write home about. Then we hit the motherload...of sea robins and skates. WTF. Every drop. Add in short seabass and short fluke and we were not heading in the right direction. We had to make multiple moves to put together some sort of catch. Paulie had the hot hand today catchin 8 keepers (only keeping his legal limit) to 23". I had 1 keeper at 20" but the shorts ratio was too much. We ended with 10 keepers for the 5 man crew.

Birds workin in the AM. Saw a couple boats bringin in small bluefish (big snappers)
