Concensus among the fleet is that the morning half-day trips are better than the afternoon trips, due to the unending South wind that kicks up everyday around 12:30pm. Knowing this I still opted to hop onboard the Saturday PM Sea Hunter trip after they had a productive morning.
Well the South wind was cranking and and fishing wasn't that good. The bad news --> only 6 keepers for the whole boat; the good news --> I had 4 of them
I was the only bucktailer onboard, thus proving that dragging bait was a waste. With less than 30 minutes left, one of my stern-mates switched to jigging, you know the rest: he won the pool !!
There were 2 events that made me smile on Saturday: #1 - I ran into Marilyn (Ms. Gulp, Ms. Gold) on a neighboring half-day boat; she was all smiles to be back flukin' in NJ again and is doing well - aquatherapy helps.
#2 - when a ten year old boy (first time fluker) couldn't understand why the fluke were only biting my line, I let him reel one in. His Dad took a photo and now they're both hooked.
Looking forward to the Point Pleasant Elks Tourney on 27-July. I'll be fishing on Team Daly with a great crew of NJFishing (Ir)regulars. This year is special to me because it'll be the first tourney that my son Brian joins us. We can't name him Hart Attack junior, his handle is Angina
