Re: Giant BLACK FISH STORITES
Doing a Spring trip, set up by Greg V., last April, on The Karen Ann, out of A.C. Using my "Super Fin-S", Bogan rod. We had a nice bite going catching some nice roasters. If you have fished with Captain Adam, you know he doesn't like to use a net. The good Captain has a way of just reaching over and grabbing the leader to lift the fish out of the water, with no commotion at all.
A few hours into the trip and I got that magic thump and run that I was waiting for. The fish took a nice run and tried to dig back to the rocks but I managed to get it moving upwards. Another strong run about halfway up & I knew I had a good fish but no idea how good.
As I got the fish near the surface I backed up so that Capt. Adam could move in and grab the leader. Imagine my shock when the good captain straightens up and, very calmly, says, "I'm going to get the net for this one." To me it seemed like it took Captain Adam hours to find the net! But find it he did and As he lifted I got my first look at my big fish!
I said before we even got the fish out of the net, "Ok, lets get her weighed and measured so we can get her back in the water quick." When the fish was hanging on the scale, it was bouncing between 14-16 so we all agreed on 15 pounds. A gave her a little hug and splashed her back in with hopes that maybe I will see her again this year!
That reminds me, I have to call Captain Adam & confirm that date!
