All good suggestions Gerry but the lower unit oil should be changed at the end of the season. If it sits outside all winter and you do have water that got into the lower unit it will freeze and possibly crack the lower unit. Changing the oil in the lower unit at the end of the season assures you that this will never happen. Also gives you the option of removing lower unit and having it sealed/repaired over the winter months if you do find the oil was milky when you drained it.
