For fishing types in the New York metropolitan region, it's been long known as a "trout angler's paradise," but it wasn't until this month that a rural community in the Catskills was actually declared the best fishing town in the country.

Now they're basking in the glory.

Roscoe, N.Y., a pleasant two-hour drive from New York City, has been dubbed "Ultimate Fishing Town USA" after winning a national online-voting competition that involved 300 towns across the U.S. Roscoe area "boasts some of the finest trout streams in the U.S.

Many of the competitors were in states world-famous for outdoor recreation, such as Alaska, Colorado, Minnesota, Michigan and Florida.
