Default Re: NJFishing Tuna Trip -Saturday Sept 18th

SEPT. 1st.

We're coming down the final stretch.

If anyone needs a rental rod, please send me a PM so we have that out of the way and we are organized as you board.
Reels

Penn International 50-80 wide two speed or ... Shimano TLD 50-80 wide 2 speed.

Rods
Quality rods are essential in landing your big fish. Sabre - Star or Lamiglass.

Line
Once you hook up, don't take the chance on losing your fish due to old or frayed line.
Momoi 80 to 100 lb test.

Hooks
Offshore fishing demands sharp lethal hooks that will hold on to huge fish.
Be sure to have plenty of Gamakatsu 6/0 hooks in the early season, and 8/0 in the late season. These hooks have proven to be the best choice for fish ranging from 50 to 300 pounds.

Leader Material
Offshore fish like tuna and swords have excellent eyesight.
Seaguar or Momoi Flourocarbon Leaders in 25 yard spools, really make the difference in hookups. Completely invisible underwater, best way to trick the fish to your bait!

Sinkers
When fishing in 300 feet of water, the fish could be concentrated at a certain depth.
We recommend Egg Sinkers in 2 ounce to 8 ounce sizes. These sinkers are designed to ride on the line without fraying your line.

Barrel Swivels
Fishing heavy tackle means "No Weak Links".
Be sure to pick up a couple packs of Sampo or S-Pro Swivels in 150 to 200 pound test. Both are ball bearing swivels, and become the most essential part of fighting large fish!

Foul Weather Gear, Boots
Weather can turn at the canyon in a moments notice!

Miscellaneous
You can catch alot of live squid for bait at the canyon, pick yourself up a couple Yozuri squid jigs.

FOOD
Make sure you bring enough for the entire trip.
