Light Tackle Night Bite

Fly and Spin guys are catching short stripers and the occasional blue. Even Davy Jones is out there. He says lighter is better for getting bites, but be ready for the occasional bigger fish (good rod, fresh line, good knots.)

So few oz in rod weight does matter?

Not using any weight at all, just a hook and a 3" soft plastic fished as slow as possible seems to do the trick. I'm using a setup with 10lb test, saving the bigger rod/reel with 25lb for later in the fall.
