Where are all the Blues? Love to catch EM, but hate to eat EM. Any thoughts???:confused:

There was no shortage of them on the 30 fathom line just west of the triple wrecks.

Blues have not been in the inshore in any numbers for years during the Summer. You get a blast of them in the Spring and maybe in the Fall if your lucky, but they have been MIA for the most part inshore.

there were blitzing schools of cocktail sized blues very back of the bay last sunday. the sunday before that there were big ones out towards the mouth on the NY side. The bluefish party boats have been hammering them all up in there. they're def around.

Try this recipe:
1 qt. water
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 Tbs. mustard seed
4 or 5 crumbled bay leaves
Combine all ingredients, add bluefish fillets making sure to cover completely with mixture. Refrigerate at least 6 hours or overnight. Remove fillets from mixture and place on tray until tacky to the touch. Place in smoker or grill until desired texture and moisture content. You'll be surprised how it tastes,I also hate the taste of bluefish baked or fried but I can't get enough of it this way.

All that south wind, water got cold again. Maybe we have a good July for once when it warms up
