Fuel/Water Separator Filter

Been changing my Yamaha 10 micron fuel/water separator filter (in my boat) the past two seasons myself and usually refill the new filter with gas before i screw it on. I've recently been told that I do not need to refill the new filter with gas before screwing on, since my 2014 Yamaha F150 is fuel-injected. Anyone know if this is correct? Any info/experience with this is greatly appreciated and thanks very much in advance!

Doesn't it just fill up after you hit the priming bulb a few times?

With a fuel pump it will keep sucking the line. First bleed out the air and then siphon fuel.

You filling the separator does the work for it. Usually that's not a big deal. As was pointed out, the siphon ball will fill it for you if you left it empty.

I guess it's semantics... you must not fill it... versus you don't HAVE to fill it. But in the end, someone has to fill it. Motors need fuel not air.

I always fill mine.

I fill every one. Easier on your hands. It can air lock and be very difficult to fill if installed empty.
