Hutchinson Island Pompano

Just a quick note to anyone heading down to the Hutchinson Island area in the upcoming weeks . The Pompano bite on the beach has been great this past week and should only get better. Due to my work schedule I could only fish Wednesday and Thursday and those two days produced 34 keeper Pompano.Twelve of the 34 made it to the cooler and the other twenty two were released to catch another day. Along with the Pompano, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, jacks, blue runners, croaker, and whiting also provided some great action. Anyone planning a trip down this winter feel free to contact me through the board or call the fishing department at Bass Pro Shops in Port St Lucie and I'll be happy to give you the latest beaches and baits that are producing.

Have you been catching any on the sand crab/flees?

Re: Hutchinson Island Pompano

All of my fish have been caught on sand flea scented fishbites and an occasional clam strip. A few of the fellows I fish with have caught some on fleas but the majority have used the fishbites.
