Monmouth County Surf

2 Attachment(s)
This fisherman needs a bigger surf rod. The water along the Monmouth County and Ocean County beaches was brown with schools of bunkers on Friday. Needless to say, guess who came for dinner. I counted at least three different whales and at least one large school of porpoises. The striper bite that many were hoping for, just didn't happen despite all that bait. Unless the bait gets pushed in, all you can do is enjoy the whale watching.

This fisherman is ME! Was this taken in Squan late Friday morning? Sick picture and thank you for posting it!! WhaleFart just got a whole lot more ironic.

I saw only 1 fish bust water, that was it for all my efforts and playing hooky from work.

Side note, if you are referring to the surf rod for the Whale, YES! but other then that my trusty 8' Kevin Bogan made surf stick is great for throwing medium size plugs!

Guys if you saw the brown water it was not Bunker we saw whales off of Deal in the brown water blowing a redish blow, and when we went thru the brownish water it did read like bunker on the fish finder, we thought it was either some type of krill or shrimp, the Dolphins were having a blast tearing up the bunker but we did not see the whales being aggressive around the bunker. We did see a breach right next to a kayak that had to scare the heck out if him
