Raritan River Seal

Fished the ladder yesterday next to the carcass of what appeared to be a dog sized seal (actually thought it was a Pit Bull until I saw the attached pic of one down near Perth Amboy), anybody seen seals up that far?

They've been seen in the Rahway river system in Woodbridge so I'm sure they can make it up further to the fish ladder.

don't know if it's a good sign it made it that far or a bad sign it died. thoughts Andy?

Never heard of any up that far, water is pretty low. Lots of Blue claw crabs in New Brunswick tho.

speaking of low water. after finding one of my spots almost dry Sunday I hit the Duke Island Dam and fished with a guy catching carp. He pointed out an approximate three foot wet line on the rocks above the water line that slowly dried during the morning. He had been there Saturday and it wasn't there. He felt they must have released more water from RVR overnight.

The water downstream of the ladder is super low this time of year. I'd be shocked if one made it up that far. I have seen "accidental" catches dumped in some weird spots, including a huge dead Ray a few years back in the Meadowlands. Did you snap any pics of it?

Edit: Welcome back BTW!

I thought about grabbing a pic on the way out but it stunk so bad I passed on the idea.
