Keep whacking & stacking those shad. Also a bonus carp jump right in front of ya makes the day even better.

don't worry some rain in the forecast, hopefully that will mix in some more shad.did you fish the same spot or try somewhere else? still sounded like a good day on the river.

Fished for two and half hours last night harmony township, first spot figured we would try where my buddy caught last week. Couple popped down riggers with nothing to show before finally hitting one on a Rapala flutter spoon combo. Gave it a few more minutes before we moved across the river to my hot spot. Action didn't die for two hours with multiple doubles. Ended up with 14 but lost 3 or 4 due to a ceramic rod guide that was chip cutting the line before we figured out was going on.plus popped a handfull. only 3 or 4 were on the down riggers the rest were on the Rapala combos. Action died around 7. Kept marking fish but think they were running closer to shore. Gold with pink was the hot color

downriggers, eh? they usually run along the bottom or were you guys just trying to cover the whole water column? sounds like a good time i'll have to drag the boat over to teh D sometime

Just makes it easy to cover different depths with the light flutter spoons in fast water. Typically drop them to the bottom then crank up 2 turns. But different days are different, right now during the sunny days with clear water I keep them closer to the bottom then overcast days or last light I crank them higher up. Other wise you are just casting out lines with different weights on with different lengths guessing how deep they are running.

This was the first time I used the rapalas. Got some 6ft divers, take off the treble hooks, tie on a 2ft leader to the back of the Rapala with your flutter spoon. Was surprised how well they worked once we figured out how much line to let out

Downriggers can also be called up riggers. A controlled depth fishing tool. I've used them striper fishing in deeper water to keep eels out of the rocks with good success.
