Ideas, Gauge Panel Base
 

Want to build a new base for my gauges and switches, current panel has seen better days and I want to arrange the gauges better.

Thoughts for what to use as the base, starboard or other? I did see a picture of someone that used faux carbon fiber that was sharp looking.

Whats the layout of the boat trim-wise? You have alot/any teak? Aluminum or stainless trim?

I'd try and match what you already have so it fits in with the overall scheme of the boat.

I did a starboard dash panel on my old ride years ago. Used 1/4" in dolphin grey. VERY easy to work with and very forgiving with mistakes.

Only down sides were.... keeping the surface clean.....starboard is not flat, the textured surface gathered dirt. Also had a difficult time attaching switch labels. Nothing seems to adhere.

Have seen many panels made of teak that look incredible. If your rig has teak, you may want to go that route. Good luck and take pics!

No teak and minimal aluminum. I am installing a switch panel that comes with tabs already so no worries about "stickage"

Forgot to mention....when I was doing my research on my panel re-do.....heard of guys using engraving stock panels as a dash material.

After cutting and mounting everything, you can have anything engraved into it. boat name, switch designations...etc

Get your self 1/8 thick aluminum sheet. Lay it out cut all your holes . then find somebody in your area that makes railings for your home and they will powder- coat it white for you for about 30 bucks
