Canyon Report - 9-19 Big Jamaica
Canyon Report 9/19
The Friday night canyon trip was a good one. We started out the night by losing 2 nice big eyes, one only 10 feet from the boat before we landed a yellowfin. It was slow the rest of the night until a school of Mahi-mahi invaded the slick and we caught a number of them. The early morning bite never developed so we moved to the area we caught some late on the previous trip. When we arrived we saw life in the area but could not find any tuna. We had one more shot at putting some tuna in the boat so we headed to another area. Just as we arrived there was a school of surface feeding tuna working in our direction . As soon as we stopped it was game on! In the next hour and 5 minutes we boated 50 yellowfin. we made one more quick stop and put 5 more in the boat before we headed home. Some of the passengers catching their limit were: Bill Beaches from Danbury Ct, Chris Yates from Brookfield Ct, Erik Bogan from Brielle NJ, Bobby McNary from Long Valley New Jersey, Don Buckley from phila, Team Pilgrim from Asbury Nj. It looks good for upcoming trips. More tuna are moving into the canyon every day. The big Jamaica is scheduled to sail on 31hr trips at 7AM every Tuesday and Thursday. Photos at our Facebook page |
