Reel Class Monday 7/13 Ling & Cod
 

Ran our open bottom trip today with a crew of only 4. Beautiful ocean with only a light southerly breeze to start off..

Ran up the line and tried a quick drop in 85' - that only yielded short seabass. We then went out to 100' and found a hard northerly current up against the southerly breeze - so we were able to drift. We picked at the ling, which were mostly on the small size with a few mediums and jumbos mixed in. We were able to drift over a wide area for a few hours, picking and plucking, while also catching the occasional congo eel.

By around noon time we had to go back up on the hook and that was slow for us, so we took a ride to the deep and set up on a wreck in 185'. Slow action, but we were able to pick some nice cod as well as some jumbo ling and a sea raven off of it. Bob had the highlight of the day - a triple header cod - 2 keepers (1 @ ~10#, the other 23") and the third was a short.

Overall it was a decent day - 4 guys bagged 75-80 ling as well as 4 keeper cod and 1 sea raven and a jumbo 4 spot. Great crew - we'll be back at it later in the week!
