Chart number 42 question

Up until now I've been stuck in the Raritan bay with my little baby 17 footer but she's sold and I picked up a nice 24' walkaround. Looking over my charts and Im new to it and can't figure out how to read the distance. How far is the mud bouy from the tip of Sandy hook?

Re: Chart number 42 question

There is a key on all charts in one of the corners that will replicate length in inches to miles on chart! Also look into navionics app for your phone you can drop pins and will tell distance from start to finish.

Anywhere from 8-10 miles depending what area you're looking to fish. You may also consider getting your NY registration and trying along some beaches N of where you're looking. ;)

If you have a smart phone or tablet download the navionics boating app free. In addition to free detailed charts there's all sorts of useful tools including one where you can measure the distance between 2 points.

if you are into boating and fishing you are going to love this app. It works especially well on an iPad.

One minute of lattitude is = to one nautical mile. Good to know this. wont matter what chart # your using.
