Salmon River update

Visited upstate dealer yesterday located in Pulaski , river quiet!
Lake staging normal this season , they r looking for run to start in early Sept which is normal time frame.
There always could be some earlier entries but they feel last years mid August start will not happen this season !
Local boats still catching pretty deep , slow shoreline activity to date. You never know .

There was fish in the ladder a week ago. Only benefit to fishing it now is you have plenty of space.

Ladder is in altmar at the hatchery. You might have luck at the estuary.

so the fish have migrated up the whole river to the hatchery and there's no reports online.

Well when i say there fish in the ladder i meant a handful that saw personally saw for myself. Not sure what they were. All were in 5-7lb range.

Yea just something that made an early run. I heard rumors of a few Atlantic's also.

I heard of some skamanian steelhead also in the river

Re: Salmon River update

Always a few skams and atlantics in early. Fact is the skams are essentially a 'summer-run' steelhead by nature. You'll sometimes see some big smallies in the ladder too, or at least in the creek at the outfall.
