Sea Sickness ??????????
 

taking jen & my godson with hank on the monger next week. gonna play it safe & get them some otc meds for sea sickness. my issue i know dramamine works but it knocks people out, has anyone tried the bonine? just looking for some info or suggestions! thanks for the help

Bonine works MUCH better for me than Dramamine. Virtually no drowsiness or any side effects that I can discern. I take 2 the night before, and If the forecast calls for rough seas, take one more an hour before launch.

Check out a product called Motion Eaze, it’s an oil that you apply behind your ear which deadens the nerve that controls your equilibrium. It all natural, doesn’t make you drowsy and will work even after your sea sick. I carry a bottle on the boat and it has saved many a trip for my customers.

Bonine is my go to if I know it will be rough. Pretty sure it is exactly the same formulation as Dramamine Less Drowsy. I take one Bonine the night before, good for 24 hours.

+1 on the Motion Eaze. My wife and cousin could get seasick in a swimming pool, but this stuff works for them.

i've been taking the less-drowsy Dramamine and having no issues. i get a little sleepy driving home an hour and half after, but not more than usual from getting up at 4am...

Ginger tablets (GNC) are natural and work really well. My nephews went on a Class Trip Whale watching to Mass & were miserable. Swore they'd never get on a boat again. I had them try ginger tablets and they've made several trips on my boat and 3 more Whale watching trips with no problems.
No chemicals.

My wife Ruth gets motion sickness even just sitting in the back seat of the car. On the boat, forgetaboutit. So bad I named my first boat Ruthless :D

Dramamine was making her drowsey so she tried Bonine a few years back and never looked back. Not even a hint of sea sickness any more.

You might also have her try the head of a live Dogfish Murr. I saw a video of some guy on this site eat one and he looked like he was feeling pretty good to me ;)

Besides the meds, diet is a big part of it too. I know you'll be repping the Philly Pretzels. Salty and doughy is the way to go. Bagels, soft pretzels, etc. I don't get seasick, but I've seen that a bunch of the people I've taken do much better with bagels, pretzels and PB&J than with some kind of greasy breakfast sammich and a mayo-loaded sub for lunch.
