To fluke in NY or NJ?
The regs in NY have keep me in NJ, especially those years when the size was 19+ in NY.
I do most of my fluking from my kayak. It seems like breezy pt and Jamaica Bay on a calm day is going to be much more tempting. We'll likely see some highlands boats fishing off NYC as well. Now if only the tolls were less... |

Do both. You can keep 5 in NY and 5 in NJ.

I don't know about Jamaica bay. Out front of the island yeah but Jamaica bay here there are a ton of fish there but also heard they are usually less than 18, but that's just what I have gathered from some guys I talk to

Lots of good places back in the bay to fish but it's tricky if you are not familiar with the area. You need a good chart or charplotter and pay close attention to it as the channels curve around a lot. It's a good early season spot as the water warms up pretty quickly.

If I had these regulations last year and the year before and the year before that and so on, a limit would have been had in just a few hours and when I say few I mean 2 hours on average. |

Re: To fluke in NY or NJ?
You better think about this one..If you leave Jersey and fish NY first and get 5 then stop in NJ on the way in and get 5 more, don't you really have 10..When you land in Jersey with 10 and the CO stops you aren't you really 5 over your limit?
