Wawayanda salmon hunt

I fished for the elusive Nj salmon yesterday on Wawayanda. Had most of the tip-ups set 4 ft under the ice in 30-50 ft of water. I know where all the salmon went- the monster pickerel ate them up for sure! Was fishing 8lb floro leaders and lost most to snip offs at the hole. We did catch a 14 in rainbow on green power bait on our only non-shiner trap...the trout had a monster shiner in its stomach with no hook marks in it....then the final insult/ when picking up to go a polar tip-up had its flag frozen to ice- 1/3 of spool out with a scaled shiner and no scuff on leaded. Silver sucker flipping me the goodbye fin....till next time..

I've often wondered about the salmon situation in that lake. Never thought about icing them. But I can see where the pickeral would be an issue.
