Dredging of the Delaware and Raritan Canal

http://www.njwsa.org/Canal%20Dredging%20Project.htm

Will fish and wildlife be protected during the the dredging activity?
The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife (NJDEP DF&W) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) will be consulted during the preparation of the Environmental Information Document (EID). The NJDEP DF&W and the US-FWS will issue guidelines that must be adhered to during the project’s construction to minimize impacts and protect fish and wildlife

The dredging project will begin in early 2014. At this time, it is anticipated that dredging may require up to three years to complete.

Re: Dredging of the Delaware and Raritan Canal

I primarily fish the canal for trout in the spring although I fish south of the proposed dredge in Lawrenceville and also fish the feeder canal from West Trenton to Lambertville. No word on if this project will shut that fishery down. I know one thing there will be lots of screaming if it does, and F&G will loose a ton for money in license fees.

I wrote them an e mail asking that exact question. Feel free to contact them also.
