Trout?

Ok guys, I'm dying down here. I have the itch bad. I've never really fished for trout before but I guess that's all that's biting. I have an ultralight and a bunch of inlines so ill give it a shot. I just don't know where to start or go at all. If anyone could recommend some lakes/streams that would be great. I know the south branch is good but I'm out of my element up there. Any decent spots to park and walk the shore? Can trout be caught from shore at round valley? Thanks guys. Oh and I'm in mt holly I don't mind driving but I don't want to drive all day either.

Ps. Anyone looking for a nice rack to mount to a truck I'm trying to sell mine. fits 6 rods and a large cooler. I wanted $300 but at this point I'd take 200 obo.

Not so sure about in lines this time of year but there's plenty of trout to be caught to fill the void till spring. I prefer to drift worms and eggs, alot of guys use plugs or small jigs as well. Any of the stocked streams should serve up a few fish. The peaquest has a decent amount of shore line to walk along and Round Valley also has plenty of shore line to fish as well.

I say ground zero, Hackettstown. Stephans State Park, work outward from that spot, Saxton Falls and so on. Thats a bit of an all day drive, need suggstions below Rt 78 then.
What does the Fish and Game stock down that way, check the website ?

I've been having good luck at RVR recently from shore. I fished today from 8-12 landed 2 bows and 2 browns. Bows both caught on powerbait 1ft off the bottom, and browns caught on shiners under a slip bobber.

Are you planning on wearing waders? Your best chance would be to fish along the South Branch of the Raritan, save the drive time for fishing. Use google maps, 3 bridges Road in Raritan/Readington Township, the next stocking location downstream is Blackpoint Road in Hillsborough. From there, just about every bridge downstream. With high water and time, the fish will have spread out.
