11/5 - RV and BASS pond
Hit up RV at 6:15 for morning bite. Felt like we got there just a tad too late and missed the better action. Guy that was there for 30 minutes before me said he had 5 hits on powerbait. Guess I need to start getting my shiners the night before now so that I can get to RV well before sunrise. Anyway, in the first 10 minutes I caught a 13-14" brown live lining a shiner. Then Zach hooked into one a few minutes later, also short. Then the bite just turned off completely and only 1 other person around us hooked into a trout before 9am.
Packed up and went to do some November BASSIN! Started live lining the rest of our shiners and all three of us caught a few small bass each. Decided to throw on the senko and BOOM! within a few minutes I had an awesome bass at the end of my 4lb test with 4ft ultra lite rod. 2lb 8oz, fish honestly looked a lot bigger than it weighed on my scale tho hmm. All in all a satisfying morning of fishing. https://scontent-a-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/...89419681_n.jpg https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/...77137090_n.jpg |

Great report. So if I understand correctly, you can fish Round Valley around the boat ramp at anytime, but to access the rest of the shoreline, you have to wait until they open the park gates at 8:00 am? That's a great bass. Personally, I never spot-burn small ponds that have a lot of bass. There are just too many selfish bastards out there who love to take home every bass they catch in a bucket. Besides conservation officers, the only defense we have against this is keeping hot spots on the down-low. Figure a 3 pound bass is like 18 inches. According to Pennsylvania biologists, that fish is likely 8 years old. What are the chances of a bass living eight years when the foreigner bucket brigade is hitting a lake hard and taking home everything they catch? And no all of RV is accessible now the gates are open. During the summer you couldn't get elsewhere, now you can fish the whole shoreline. |

No, don't delete the thread. It's a great report. I just wanted to put it out there that not everybody is a conservation minded sportsman like yourself. New Jersey is an especially tough place to grow large bass because of our short growing season and extremely high population density. |

Re: 11/5 - RV and Hoffman Park
Yea I hear ya man. I don't bass fish too often so I didn't even think about it, but I am definitely pretty secretive about some of my carp honey holes so I'll be more mindful next time. Thanks for the reminder man
