Re: Fish ID. help:

Judging from that picture which isn't the greatest quality, it does look like a small musky......the stripes on it's back give it away......but i may be wrong, don't know much about the raritan and if they inhabit that river....

Looks Like the Tiger Skunk played with a couple weeks back. Where are you getting these shot's? I love it.

Re: Fish ID. help:

There's been alot of Tigers caught out of the Raritan since last October. I myself have caught 5 since last October. Since than I know at least 10 other anglers that have come into a Tiger Ski either out of the Raritan or canal. 5 of those anglers are NJF members. It's good to see them doing well. Heard lots of stories about 40+ inchers lurking in the waters of the Raritan and the Canal!!!

Re: Fish ID. help:

a few years ago I was fishing the elbow pool on the SBRR for trout, I was swinging a large saltwater fly (Popovics Deep Candy) about 20 yards downstream hoping for a big fish. it was march23 2008 to be exact, and that pool was absolutely loaded with what I guess were stockie brook trout.. hundreds upon hundreds of them.

I was swinging the fly downstream, watching 8inch brookies swirl on the fly over and over but too seemingly to small to eat it, I suddenly had a savage take, just under the surface. the kind of strike that literally scares you for a second. after about a minute fight on a huge fish, (all I saw was dark sillhouette about 30 inches long) he broke me just above the fly. clean cut 10lb test tippet (high dirty water). is it possible this was a musky or pike? (and not the giant trout I have been telling friends I lost lol)

Although I have yet to catch one, looks like a tiger to me. I am always amazed at the pictures you post from the ladder. Keep those pics coming!!
