carp 7/28
 

Hit my usual morris county pond for carp. 730-1130am. Much more feeding activity goin on than in my previous trips. great conditions, cooler temps, overcast, showers. First hit at 745, on my ancient 7' fiberglass light power rod (metal eyes) with 6# trilene, hooked it, felt big as hell.... took me 10 mins before i recaptured half of my line, then the fish took off at least a dozen more times...i landed it at 815, my arm was sore as hell. my new pb @ 34" and must have been 25#. By far the longest battle i've had with a fish. Sorry no pics, No camera-of course i left it on kitchen table in my morning stupor. Caught 3 more afterwards - 25", 26", 29". A steady bite all morning unlike the last time i went they turned off at 930/10.

Awesome...congrats on the PB! It's definitely a workout bringing them in on light tackle. Even with heavy tackle you'll be sore the next day if you catch a bunch of them. What did you catch them on? If you have a girth measurement I can probably tell you how much it weighed within a few pounds. I've caught skinny fish longer than that that were under 20lbs and fat 25lb fish that were under 30".

saxmatt- Thanks. I didnt take a girth measurement. I will start doing that from now on. This fish was on the fatter side, the 32" that i had the pic of was skinnier and weighed almost 20. I've noticed They quickly add girth/weight once they get over 24". I was frozen using corn (thawed) soaked in corn syrup over night.
