Morris County Bass Fishing Combined Report

Although my heart lies in saltwater fishing, I have been doing a decent amount of freshwater fishing on the weekdays usually from 6-9. Have been doing pretty well with largemouth on weedless rigged powerbait worms. Beginning this week I was able to pick up a few on hula poppers which is a blast. I have noticed within the past 2 weeks the fishing has slowed down a lot. Not sure if it is post spawn or what. There has been alot of bass fry in certain areas and big bass still on nests in other areas. I guess this can correlate to which areas receive more sunlight and the water warms up ? Planning on heading out tonight in my new Intex Seahawk 4 inflatable raft lol. I purchased it for 100 bucks and the reviews seem pretty good for such a compact fishing machine. All fish were safely released to fight another day. Included are some pics of fish over the past couple weeks. BTW has anyone heard any info about a bass tournament in Pompton Lakes at the end of June ?

Nothing wrong with that. My first water craft was a Sevylor inflatable. A hard-shell kayak is a lot faster on the water, but I found inflatables to be stable and very comfortable on the water. They be easily transported in a car and stored in a closet at home.

Inflatables are also ultra-stealthy as they don't create all the bumping and banging noises that someone in a hard-shell kayak or boat can make.

Looking forward to testing this thing out tonight. There are def some areas covered in lilly pads that I have been dieing to get to. I will keep you posted.

It's a world of difference. Bring an anchor to hold b/c the inflatables are apt to drift. I currently fish from a hobie inflatable and the thing is absolutely awesome. Getting to those lily pads and pulling out your first bass will make it all worth it.

Enjoy!

Just an update from the maiden voyage on the inflatable seahawk 4. My brother landed one LMB, my buddy lost another on a popper and the Captain (ME) got the skunk ! Boat was awesome and much sturdier than i thought. Planning on putting in a wood floor to flip and pitch along the shorelines. Hopefully getting a trolling motor and battery this weekend. If anyone knows anyone selling one i am looking for something that is in good condition and pushes around 30lbs of thrust. Here are some pics of the boat.

good stuff
might want to keep a short roll of duct tape in your tackle box though... that way you'll at least be able to stay dry on the way back to shore if something punctures one of the chambers. i know if it were me, it would only be a matter of time before i snagged it on the backswing of a cast, haha
