Passaic river conditions

I just started fishing the Passaic since getting my license and have been out about three times in march in the two bridges areawithout getting a mere bite each time. I've been using Johnson silver spoon and a ratl trap. Has anyone had any luck lately near the area? Im dying to snag my first pike haha.

Get to the upcoming Meet and Greet on the Passaic if you can. I'm sure many are willing to help you.

I've found that the Pike bite has slowed down a bit since it peaked the first 2 weeks of March. A fish here and there, but no more double digit days for now. Keep at it, they are there. Mix in some big jerkbaits and spinnerbaits and if that fails, big shiner under a bobber.

My bro and I have been out about 6 times in the past two weeks, avg. fishing time one hour each time. He has 3 pike and I have 2.

I have seen some monsters jumping and scattering juvenille carp. The one I saw on Sunday right after the bro hooked this one was 36-40" and 6-8" in the belly - I ran over and dropped a cast in right behind his spalsh - no luck.

Going again tonight to try for ze monstar! :D

The area of the river I've been fishing is a faster flowing region of the Passaic with not too much slack water which I think is why there may be a lack of pike however I've heard of people catching some nice pike there so I'm not too sure

I live in Montville slightly upstream from that area. Are you all fishing from the shore or from a kayak/canoe? Is there good fishing in the Great Piece Meadows in between my house and the two bridges area?

Sorry I am new here, where can I find details on the Meet & Greet? Hopefully I didn't already miss it

I hit the Passaic near Two Bridges yest also. Had a feeling the bite would be off since the river turns the color of hot chocolate after even a little rain. Beat the banks for about a mile starting at the Two Rivers Bridge. Managed to catch several trees - including a personal best on a spinner bait. :) Didn't get a single bite though nor did I see any activity on the water.

To be honest, I haven't really given that stretch a legit try. Only been there when conditions weren't great or I had too little time to throw too many different baits/lures out there. Still, thus far, the only thing that stretch has done for me is make me wish I had a boat.

NBask14, approximately where do you usually fish on the Passaic? You mentioned fishing in swifter water. I hit the stretch 2-3 miles above and below Little Falls quite a bit. That the area you're talking about?

I usually do well in the two bridges area for smallies...rattletraps over the rocks are the ticket for them or catch a couple of crawdads for bait, the place is loaded with them. I have never pulled out a pike from that particular spot/area...but I have not too far away :D
