Has anyone fished there? It's a little stream that runs off of Seeley's Pond. Apparently they stock trout there, but I haven't caught one there yet.

I would pass by there on my way to work all the time. I'm guessing it gets hit pretty hard. Plenty of bigger water North of Rt. 78 if you get the time.

When they stock Seeley's Pond, they'll sometimes put trout in the part of the stream that's a deep pool where a smaller feeder stream pours into it. I don't know if they will always stock the stream, or if they just do that for the season opener.

(The feeder stream appears to be spring that comes from the quarry, passes under Diamond Hill Road and feeds into the stream at the pool.)

That's a popular fishing area. I doubt the trout stay in the pond or creek very long after they are stocked.

According to the NJDFW website, the Green Brook was stocked with 150 trout in the preseason, and another 150 trout today (4/15). Seely's Pond got 230 trout in the preseason and will get another 170 on Wednesday. If you fish at or not far from where they stock, you should do okay. The publicly listed fishing spots are:

I don't think these bodies of water get much trout-targeted fishing action. Reminds me of another stream, the Middle Brook in Martinsville, which will receive 450 trout this spring. If you ask me, the trout going into the Green Brook, Middle Brook, and Seely's Pond would be better off going into the Raritan River, which is lightly stocked (3,200 trout) in Duke Island Park and not stocked at all south of Rt. 206.

Agreed.

these places get pounded while the stocking still happens and quickly fished out. not an angler out of season tho, nothing to really fish for at either place aside from the stockies.
the fish stocked to fish caught ratio is very high, which is what the state is trying to achieve when they stock these put and take waters that can't hold over fish well due to
water quality issues in summer.

I was at Seeley's Pond on opening day. I assure you there were plenty of anglers standing elbow-to-elbow.

In fact, when News12 aired a segment about the opening day of trout season in 2012, they chose Seeley's Pond to videotape the segment.

Granted it's not Castaic Lake, but the pond does have some Largemouth Bass, Pickerel, Carp and various panfish. I grew up in the area and as a kid fished the pond well after stocking season.

The state has stocked this brook for decades, since I can remember in the 60's. Usually receives about 200 trout. Considering it's location in a fairly populated area it gets a lot of early season traffic, a lot by kids. Basically put and take. Not even sure if it receives much in season stocking.

I fished that dirty waterfall by the Mcdonalds and caught a couple of trout there.
I also foul hooked two sunnies by their eyes with an Original Rapala.
I thought the first one was just having a bad day but then I got the second one up a Seeley's. Could I be doing something wrong? :confused:

I don't think so. Sometimes small fish will attack a crankbait without actually trying to eat it.

I don't know if it's a territorial thing or if just seeing what appears to be a wounded minnow inspires some aggressive/feeding instinct in the sunnies that makes them chase it down and strike it.
