Saddle River Skunk - A Fishing Report
Hit the Saddle River in Paramus last Monday, both the Dunkerhook section and the Wild Duck Pond section. NO TROUT WHATSOEVER. One guy had 2, but he'd been there for hours.
This spot must've been hit hard Opening Weekend, not to mention the Bucket Brigadiers. Anyone else have any luck here? |
Re: Saddle River Skunk - A Fishing Report
The bucket brigaders ARE the opening day crowd:)

Re: Saddle River Skunk - A Fishing Report
Nice to see a Saddle River report. The SR actually cuts through the parking lot of my job (Felician College in Lodi), then dumps into the Passaic about a mile away. I usually spot some baitfish and the occasional Carp, but that's about it. I do believe the state record Rockbass came out of the SR though...

Re: Saddle River Skunk - A Fishing Report
Dunkerhook was being fished by the commorants real good... Nobody catching , but the birds were comming up with nice trout. Same with Indian lake and the pond in Garfield. The fish were there , but the birds were getting them first...

Skunk,
Lots of carp in that area...Boys club in Lodi, Next bridge up, railroad bridge bridge in SB.. If you want carp look for the deeper holes along these areas. Don't be surprised if you catch other kinds either...Ells, catfish, sunnies, etc.. |
Re: Saddle River Skunk - A Fishing Report
Reminds me of St Pattys day, everyone is a fisherman on opening day! (Amateur Day) !

I think those cormorants eat more fish that people catch. Where did they come from? I never saw one until a few years ago now they seem to be everywhere.

Re: Saddle River Skunk - A Fishing Report
Back in 1979 threw 1983 I fished the SR behind Paramus Catholic Boys High School. Fishing was always good. Finally one day my parents found out why I quit the Track and Field team. I must say, my Father, God rest his soul, totally undrstood and he knew that Fishing would be with me the rest of my life unlike any sports I would have participated in during my High School years. How true he was.
