Last Ice Pike
 

I went up north for Easter weekend and was able to sneak in a few more days of ice fishing before the Spring thaw. I went out Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday. I caught 4 pike on Thursday and ended the year with 3 skunks in a row, but at least I ice fished in April. The place I went on Friday had 14" of ice in the cove I was fishing, I couldn't believe it. Thursday was great. I caught a pike before I even drilled a hole. Right by my car someone left a tipup in the water and the flag was up. I saw the name and I realized it belonged to my buddy Ed. I chipped it out and it was spooled with a 32" pike on the other end. Thanks Ed! I ended up with 3 more, one was 37" and the others were low 30s. All the fish were caught on dead bait. This season started late but the ice hung on for a while. The second half of the season was slow for me, but I had a great start to the season with lots of pike including a new PB. It ended up being a good year, can't wait until next Winter!

Great way to end the season!! Not sure why your friend would have left equipment behind, but it benefited you. Nice lookin fish, Congrats!!

He didn't realize he forgot the tipup until I called him. He probably packed up in the dark and forgot it. Luckily the pike was healthy and I got the hook out.

Congratulations, very nice fish. But you are the only person I've heard this time of year saying I can't wait until next winter.:)
