Reccomendation for Fish Finder/GPS combo

Limited space so I am looking for a chart plotter/fish finder combo.
Not too expensive but does the job.
Color prefferred but not neccesary.

I fish mostly back of Raritan Bay - but would love to be able to mark spots and fish. The fish finder I have now is good and reading the bottom but sucks at marking fish (it's an older Garmin)

any suggestions?
Anyone got one they want to sell?
Let me know

If space and cost are your main concerns, if buying new I would consider the Garmin GPS Map 541. A friend of mine has one, it works well and is easy to use.

Sells for around $600 and you can add a depth transducer for $200. Only issue is that it's a 5 inch screen so when you do a split screen with depth finder and map, things get pretty small.

Not sure how good the base maps that come pre installed in this unit are for the back bay, so you might also need to purchase an additional map cartridge to get the map detail you need.

Garmin and Lowrance are ideal for space and cost- pretty surr you will have tu buy a Navionics chip for the chart plotter

I've used both Lowrance and Garmin.

Garmin has a one push MOB feature that Lowrance does not. I LOVE that to mark a hit the second it hits.

True story- hated that about the Lowrance-new boat loaded with Simrad. Pretty pumped

Simrad stuff is great but pricey.

Never did care for Lowrance... Had one and it was nothing but trouble, so did a friend and he had trouble too. Not very easy to use either, but maybe things have changed over the years.

A few thing about Garmins ...They are one of the more easier units to figure out how to use. Customer support is great and I don't think you will find many people say there sorry they bought one even though they maybe have spent more on it than some of the other brands.

I purchased a Raymarine last year and love it. Here is a write up on it but it's pricey and maybe be too big for your appliaction.
