Tough day
RIP to my father-in-law Nick, an avid striper fisherman. You cheated the doctors by refusing their surgeries and out lived a few of them as well. You saw one grandson become a lawyer and the other an environmental scientist and father. You held your great granddaughter 15 years after the doctors told you that you needed their surgeries to live. You refused their orders and showed them your resilience, your fortitude. You watched your granddaughters grow to become successful women and your family grow and prosper.
Hats off to you! May you enjoy your blackberry brandy while fishing the calm waters above. Till we meet on gods seas sometime in the future, save a few fish (and a shooter) for me and rest peacefully. |

Re: Tough day
Sorry for you loss and my prayers and condolences to your family Bob. Sounds like Nick left this world fighting and enjoyed the time he had left with his family, rather then in and out of hospitals. Good for him and you all too.
I watched a close friend of mine deteriorate in the hospital for almost a year while undergoing very aggressive treatments for Leukemia. Sad to say, but I think it was the treatments that got him and his remaining time would have been much better spent at home with his family. I guess eventually we will all need to make similar choices and that Nick made the right call. |
