My Passaic River Greeting and Thank You
1 Attachment(s)
Gentlemen,
I just became a member of the forum. Thank you Gerry! I have followed many threads and I gotta say the information I've obtained from so many of you, has been unbelievable. I really feel I should thank the following people for their input: njbassman Skunk City flyboy1 AndyS NorthJerzyG msgdan FASTEDDIE29 I'm hoping I can catch up with many of you and wet the line. I also fish out of my Kayak when time allows. Last year (2012) my friend, njbassman, told me about the Passaic River Fishery. Up until that moment I couldn't believe Pike and Smallmouth were so abundant. My Avatar photo is from the Elmwood Park/Garfield Area. This was my second time fishing the Passaic when I landed that keeper. Of course, I threw her back in, but I was hooked ever since that day. Thanks to all of you |

Re: My Passaic River Greeting and Thank You
Welcome. Glad to see my reports helped. Now it's time for you to repay the favor and post some awesome reports of your own  .
Elmwood Park is a great area to fish, but don't limit yourself to just there. Having the kayak to scout out new spots is a HUGE plus obviously ;) . You'll find fish almost everywhere on this river. Keep an eye on the USGS gauge charts for temps and water levels (Google "USGS Two Bridges", "USGS Pine Brook", "USGS Dundee Dam", etc.). This time of year is good for keeping the water levels high, which means getting that 'yak into the shallow backcoves these shore fisherman can't get to. |
Re: My Passaic River Greeting and Thank You
Skunk, wana set up a KAYAK MEET-N-GREET sometime at the end of april or early may. Do you have yak buddies? What do you think bro?

One thing I didn't mention. After my first trip on the Passaic "Little Falls", I did a bit of research, "Google Maps" and conjured up with a few more areas that I could enter on foot. "Where there's a will, there's a way" By the way, Have you, or anyone else seen the under water structure on the south side of the Route 4 Bridge. It looks like an old train-trestle or a crane that submerged. I found it while on my Kayak's maiden voyage. I hooked up to a Smallmouth that wasn't very big using a weedless wacky rigged 4'' Pumpkin Senko. I just couldn't believe I didn't get snagged, over 10 casts into the structure. Just makes me wonder what other kind of goodies are submerged!! |
Re: My Passaic River Greeting and Thank You
Welcome!!! Def a great fishery. And, the more attention it receives, the more coin is going to go toward making it better IMO.
Good luck out there, and def post some beasts!!!! |
