they are definitely biting jigs now. They were all holding deep down sat morn but the strong wind at nite and into sunday had em all floating around wide open water and suspending chasing bait

Once temps uniform like now,or later just before ice in , when warmer water is deep it pays to stick to a down deep game plan when seeking the eyeballs.
I've only fished actively about five seasons but my neighbor fishes them 12 months a year!
All our big ones now till
Late in season deep , exclusively on jigs.

Re: Big Cats On Lake Hopatcong!!!

I'm completely uneducated in the methods of targeting catfish--I've hardly ever fished specifically for them. BUT...The idea of JIGGING them immediately caught my attention. Can one of you experienced catfishermen enlighten me on this tactic/approach? I caught one 3 lb channel last year as by-catch on a rapala and a 7-8 lb channel in Spruce Run many moons ago a dead herring. This, though, intrigues me greatly...

Thanks in advance...
