Do you use your smart phone or other smart device for navigating on the water?

Is there a specific app you prefer?

The NJ Department of Environmental Protection is considering developing an application for smart devices that highlights sensitive areas in Barnegat Bay and your help is appreciated.

The best 10$ I ever spent was getting the navionics app for my iPhone - its got great detail and gives you a wireless,handheld, and also a redundant system...
Highly reccomend it!

And a waterproof case...

I like the Navionics app as well. Don't use it that often on the boat but it is nice to know you have it if you need it.

IMHO - Not sure if people are doing to install a standalone app on their phone that tells them about sensative marine areas unless there are some other benifits to the app... Tides, marine forcasts, maps etc.

FREEBIE App from Sea Tow. Give Lat/Lon, speed, tide, weather, etc. And it's ALL free.

Use it on my Droid. GPS enabled.

I'll say it right now and hope it echoes through the halls that be...
This may not be the exact place for it , although this can work everyones favor(almost).
Most of my posts are done via iPhone
Computer is far away at most points I'm not home nor sitting at the computer.
So...
You mention DEP, how about our game wardens.. It's always hard to get in touch with them when a violation is in progress .
How about a forum to start,
Then an actual page for njf&g violations making it easier to be on the same page;literally , I get updates on my phone instantly when someone has info on said communication... Get the path? Too many times have I heard "I saw this abomination... And had no one to call... Well let's post it to the site linked directly to "the boys" and let it ride...
