So hit a stretch of the passaic I've been going to the past 2 weeks or so. Doesn't get a lot of pressure so I'm not gonna burn it but its the fairlawn area. So I've been pulling a lot of pike and smb out of this area but nothing of great size. Until yesterday afternoon that is. So literally as I'm walking out I see something explode on top. On the off chance it wasn't just a carp I grab my backup pole with a tiny torpedo hooked up toss it out there. Id say within 2 cranks it gets crushed. After a little fight I get an eye on the fish..WoW...was all I can remember saying....I flip it on the bank and then it happens....the fish comes unbuttoned and flops around a few times....trying to stop it with my boot the fish flops right over my boot and back into the drink.......well from getting a good look at it it was without a doubt a solid 5lber maybe even 5.5lbs. By far my biggest smb which I would've loved to get a picture of.
