Saved the pest pike for last (video)
I went to the same area I hit Monday afternoon this morning, but had more time and went about another mile up river. Again, every deep pool held fish and I wold say that I had at least 20 pike this morning.
It wasn't easy kayaking, I had to get out with low water and log jams at least 5 times, but it was worth it. There was one spot I hit with 2 fallen trees about 50 feet apart with deep water between them. In that one pool, I landed a nice 5 lb. pickerel and 5 pike. There was a bunch of very small pike today, but about 5 just over 30 inches, and one monster close to 40 inches that was headed for some trees and I yanked the lure right out of it's mouth trying to stop it, which almost resulted in a spinner bait to the head! Here is a short video of the last pike I got of the morning and the biggest besides the one I tried to stop. http://youtu.be/Mh7nb9VoONc Danny V |

I love the fact the fish look so healthy. I guess a great thing about pike in the Passaic is it's mostly C&R, not like stocked trout where people take home a stringer any chance they can.

AMAZING how those things always take a spinnerbait. Not like with bass where you gotta keep guessing all the time.
